The secret to running in the snow

Welcome to GO FOR A RUN, the only newsletter that’ll make you want to go for a run in the snow.

My all-time favorite time to run is when it’s just started snowing.

A few inches of fresh powder underfoot. The soft crunch as each foot hits the ground. The hush of snowflakes landing. Knowing that I’m the only badass out there getting better while everyone else is hunkered down inside.

There’s nothing better.

But there’s a problem.

Snow is slippery as f*ck.

And it usually comes with its good friend, ice.

Then it melts. And refreezes overnight.

You’re totally screwed.

Guaranteed you’ll slip and fall.

Unless you have this one thing.

Look, if you’re running in snow or ice you gotta slow down. There’s nothing wrong with walking. Make sure your foot lands directly below you and approach each step with caution.

But some grippy spikes make a world of difference.

A small investment that’ll allow you to run on snow and ice for years.

I love my Yaktrax but any similar style spikes will work well.

They’re not perfect and kinda suck if some of your run is on asphalt or pavement.

But they’ll give you the confidence you need to get out there.

So pick up a pair and strap them to your favorite running shoes.

You know the rest.

Go for a run.
