Don’t forget this crucial piece of overlooked equipment

Welcome to GO FOR A RUN, the newsletter so sexy it’ll blow your socks off.

When I was starting out as a runner, I spent countless hours trying on every shoe at the local running store.

See, shoes are like the tires of your car. They’re the only point of contact with the ground. You gotta make sure they fit well.

Back at the store, I finally found the perfect pair.

I headed home, eager and excited to try them out.

I slipped on a tee shirt and shorts and opened up my brand-new Nike’s.

Before I put them on, I grabbed an old pair of socks from the drawer. I didn’t give it much thought as I headed out for my jog.

45 minutes later I was in agony.

I peeled off the shoes to find every runner’s nightmare:

The dreaded blister.

Turns out, it doesn’t matter how good your shoes are if your socks suck. You don’t want to run through a blister (unless it’s race day). It’ll really screw up your running routine.

Running socks are the most underrated piece of equipment you can buy.

My favorite brands are Feetures and Baldega (affiliate links).

Since swapping to these I haven’t had a blister in years.

So the next time you go for a run, don’t just grab any old pair of socks.

Invest in a good pair of socks to give yourself peace of mind (and peace of skin).
